This isn’t a figurative title, it’s actually a post about the increase in the need for food that comes with regular running! I just can’t stop eating! No sooner have I finished one thing then I have to eat something else, then something else. Even just before bed i’m thinking, “hmm I need a bowl of cereal…” I literally cannot buy enough food to keep me feeling full.
I’m hungry right now. That’s why I’m writing about food, because it’s all I can think about right now!
The number of calories burned off per run is obviously dependent on how far you run and at what intensity. I didn’t even go running yesterday however the 10 miler on Sunday cost me around 850 calories, with the 5k the day before expending about 250 (according to my Runkeeper app). The average adult male needs to consume around 2500 calories per day to sustain themselves. So on Sunday, my 10 mile run used up 34% of that day’s calories. And I didn’t eat any more than normal. Hence starving for the last couple of days.
So mental note: EAT MORE YOU NUMPTY! YOU’RE STARVING!
I’m off for a big lunch…oh no wait, I only bought soup with me to work today.
Today’s running training:
Poole AC track speed session at Ashdown in Poole. Usually a combination of circuit lengths totaling 5k, e.g. 4x400m, 2x 800m and 2x 1000m. Will update tomorrow!
